Coolest Homemade Birthday Cakes

Your child is celebrating his birthday in a few days and you seem to have run out of ideas for preparing a birthday cake. Well cast off your worries and look at some of these coolest birthday cakes, to get an idea on some birthday cake designs.
One cannot imagine celebrating a birthday without a cake. Cakes are the most important part of a birthday party. Children especially are thrilled when they get to cut some very unique looking birthday cakes (much to the envy of their friends) on their special day. There are many types of cake ideas that add a fun element to the theme of a birthday party.
Kids love to have a different and attractive design for their birthday cake. There is a whole lot of variety in unique birthday cakes for kids. There are many designs of cakes for kids, that you can make and surprise your children with on their birthday. Here are some recipes for the baking mouth-watering cakes with unique shapes.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake


1½ cups - APF, 6 tbsp - cake flour, 4 - large eggs, ¾ tsp - baking powder, 1 cup - unsalted butter, 6 tbsp - ground almonds, 1¾ cups - sugar, ¾ tsp - vanilla extract, ½ tsp - salt, 1 can pineapple slices, 1 cup - firmly packed dark brown sugar, ½ cup - unsalted butter, 1 cup - glacé cherry

Preheat the oven to 160ºC. Make a caramel from butter and brown sugar. Pour the caramel into the baking dish, arrange the pineapple slices on top of it, and place cherries in the centers of the rings. Mix the flours, baking powder, almonds, and salt.
In another bowl, cream sugar and butter together along with the eggs and vanilla. Combine the egg mixture with the dry ingredients. Pour the cake batter over the caramelized pineapples. Bake for 1 hour or 1 hour 15 min.

Cinderella Castle Cake


2 - round 9-inch baked cakes, 8 - cupcakes cut into cylinders, 4 - ice cream cones, 200 g - light pink fondant, 100 g - darker pink fondant, 100 g - frosting in green, yellow, and white colors filled in individual cones, 500 g - frosting of any color

Place one cake on a large platter, coat it with frosting and place the second cake on top. Keep the cupcakes on all the four corners of the cake and place an inverted ice cream cone. Cover the entire cake with a thin coat of frosting.
Use the light pink fondant to cover the cakes. Use the dark pink fondant to cover the the cones. Make creepers and leaves on the castle with green frosting and use yellow and white frosting to make flowers and windows.

Pirate Face Cake


2½ cups - APF, 1 cup - caster sugar, 4 tsp - baking powder, 3 tbsp - vegetable oil, 1½ tsp - vanilla extract, 2 cups - milk, 100 g - brown fondant icing, 50 g - black fondant icing, 50 g - white fondant icing, 500 g - skin color fondant, 20 g - red fondant

Preheat the oven at 160ºC. In a bowl, blend the oil, milk, and vanilla on low speed. In another bowl, sift the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Mix both the batters together. Pour this batter into a greased round baking tin. Bake the cake in for 1½ hour.
Once the cake is baked and cooled, use the skin colored fondant to cover the cake. Use white and black to make an eye and an eye patch. Use brown fondant to make a bandana and red to make stars.
So, the next time there is a birthday party at your house, no need to rush to the bakery to order a cake. Just put on your baker's hat and bake one of these coolest birthday cakes and enjoy the appreciation from your kids as well as your guests.
